15 SUGGESTIONS TO START CREATING AGAIN
Have you ever been stuck in a creative rut? I got stuck in one for a month in August. I hadn’t taken photos or made anything in a few months. I lost my passion for DIY and no matter how long I spent on Pinterest, I couldn’t find a single project worth making. Creating is one way I channel my stress, so it was strange to find myself watching Hulu or Netflix rather than working on a project.
Instead of letting this continue, I used this as an opportunity to try different activities and figure out what would bring back my passion for art and introduce me to a new project. e
Here are 15 Suggestions to Start Creating Again:
Re-Editing old photos in new ways - My #1 thing to do, I love looking through my photos from Europe and am constantly re-editing
Pinterest - Perusing everything under DIY
Spend some time on Tumblr looking at the DIY and Art tags
Watch YouTube videos about editing, photography or DIY projects
Get outside and take photos! Go hiking.
Commit to a simple DIY project and finish it
Bake or cook something you’ve always wanted to
Pick a quote you love and paint or draw it out in different ways
Go to a coffee shop or cafe you’ve never been to & order something you normally don’t
Go to an artsy small business shop (nice decor is always inspiring!)
Grab art supplies and force yourself to make something - I had to do this in college when I had art projects that required materials, but didn’t necessarily have an idea in mind
Take a weekend road trip! Experience a totally new place
Shop at Target - I know this seems strange, but they have great home decor and art and I always love going through the Hearth and Hand by Magnolia section
Start with a color scheme - I noticed colors (or lack of) always set the tone for my projects
Listen to new music!
That’s it! If you have any other ways you get inspired, comment below!
