YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR MENTAL ILLNESS

Untitled-1.png

Hello!

Today is World Mental Health Day and it’s important to remember that mental health is just as important as physical health. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and panic attacks in the past, I know what it’s like to feel like you’ve lost yourself so much that your mental illness is your identity.

While your mental illness may be A PART of your life story, it is NOT your identity. Accepting that you have a mental illness is the first step to realizing that you can do something about it. I used to tell myself that I was fine instead of seeking help. Eventually I told others, asked for help, and found ways to cope with my anxiety. It has become an important part of my life story because I’m able to understand what others are going through and help them the best I can.

I have no idea what you’re going through today, but I want you to know that it’s okay. Even if you’re not struggling from a mental illness, but instead from just the stresses of daily life, you can only grow from this. You are MORE than what you’re going through. You are MORE than your mental illness.

Happy World Mental Health Day.
